Nameet Chavan victorious at Dr. Vijaykumar Gavit Chashak Rapid Rating Open 2024
Nameet Chavan scored 8/9 to win Dr. Vijaykumar Gavit Chashak Rapid Rating Open 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the competition. Arnav Kherdekar and Kalpesh Dewang scored 7.5/9 each. They were placed second and third respectively according to tie-breaks. Nameet scored eight wins and suffered one loss. It was against the eventual runner-up Arnav in the penultimate round. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹100000. The top three prizes were ₹21000, ₹10000 and ₹7000 along with a trophy each. Nameet's first rating tournament triumph of his career
Four players - Arnav Kherdekar, Omkar Kadav, Nameet Chavan and Kalpesh Dewang were the leaders 7/8, heading into the final round. Arnav drew against Kalpesh and Nameet defeated Omkar to become a clear champion. Arnav and Kalpesh secured second and third place.

A total of 99 players took part from various districts across Maharashtra and few from other states. The one-day nine round Rapid Rating tournament was organized by Nandurbar District Chess Circle in Nandurbar, Maharashtra on 6th January 2024. The time control of the event was 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment per move.
