Rupesh Kumar Mishra wins Chess for Everyone Rating Open 2023 in Baikunthpur, Chhattisgarh
Rupesh Kumar Mishra scored 8/9 to win Chess for Everyone All India Rating Open 2023. He finished a half point ahead of the competition. Four players - Jain Shrenhik Daklia, Saurabh Kumar, Kamad Mishra and Jion Ghosh scored 7.5/9 each. They were placed second to fifth respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹50000. Top three prizes were ₹11000, ₹7000 and ₹5000 along with a trophy each respectively. The tournament was held from 3rd to 7th June 2023 at SECL Baikunthpur Auditorium Gautam Sadn in Baikunthpur, Chhattisgarh. It was organized by Korea District Chess Association. Rupesh's first rating tournament triumph
Top seed of the tournament, Jain Shrenhik Daklia had a sole lead 7.5/8 heading into the final round of the tournament. Rupesh Kumar Mishra was the only person trailing by a half point at 7/8. He defeated the tournament leader to become a clear champion and win his first rating tournament which is also his tenth tournament of his career.
The tournament was inaugurated on 3rd June 2023 at SECL Baikunthpur Auditorium Gautam Sadan in presence of Ashutosh Chaturvedi, CEO, District Panchayat Korea, B N Jha, Chief General Manager, SECL, Baikunthpur, and Hemant Khunte, Secretary, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Chess Federation.
The prize distribution ceremony concluded in presence of Sanjay Alang, Commissioner, Surguja Division, B N Jha, Chief General Manager SECL, Baikunthpur and Mrs. Prabhakar Khalkho, Divisional Forest Officer, Korea.

A total of 182 players took part from various states across the country in this five-day nine round Swiss-league Rating tournament which was organized by Korea District Chess Association in Baikunthpur, Chhattisgarh from 3rd to 7th June 2023. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
