Badrinath wins 1st Jaipur Rating Open 2024

Badrinath S, Arpan Das and Ram Vishal Parab scored 8/9 each at 1st Jaipur Rating Open 2024. Badrinath won the tournament due to better tie-break score, Arpan and Ram Vishal were placed second and third. The total prize fund was ₹500000. The top three prizes were ₹75000, ₹45000 and ₹30000 along with a trophy each respectively. The five-day nine-round rating tournament was organized by Food for Needy in association with Jaipur District Chess Association at Hotel Amar Palace in Jaipur, Rajasthan from 29th May to 2nd June 2024. This is Badrinath's first rating tournament triumph of the year. Badrinath S was the sole leader 7.5/8 heading into the final round. He drew with Arun Kataria to become the champion. Seven players were trailing the sole leader by a half point. Out of them, Arpan Das and Ram Vishal Parab defeated Vandan Alankar Sawai and Narayan Joshi respectively, to secure second and third places. Ram Vishal is the only teenager to make a top ten finish.

A total of 486 players took part from various parts of the country and one from Singapore. The six-day nine round Rating Open tournament was organized by Food for Needy in association with Jaipur District Chess Association at Hotel Amar Palace in Jaipur, Rajasthan from 29th May to 2nd June 2024. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
