Dama Negra Chess Club invites you to VIII Semana Santa Open 2024
Club de Ajedrez Dama Negra and IO Patricia Claros Aguilar invite you to VIII Semana Santa International Open 2024. The eighth edition of this tournament is offering a total prize fund of €20050. The top three prizes are €4000, €2000 and €1500 along with a trophy each. The winner also gets invitation to XXI Gran Hotel Bali International Chess Festival 2024 which will take place in November. There are two categories - Group A (Open) and Group B (<1900). There are 11 main prizes in Group A and many category prizes. Entry is FREE for GMs and IMs. For everyone else, entry fee is €65, €50 for Dama Negra Club players. Total 366 players including 24 GMs, 54 IMs, 3 WGMs and 4 WIMs from 49 countries in Group A and 155 players have already confirmed their participation in Group B. This March, play a Rating tournament in Alicante, Spain
The tournament is one of the 51 events supported by FIDE Open Aid Package program.
Eligibility and Category
There are two categories: Group A (Open) is for all players irrespective of rating and age. Group B will be for players rated below 1900 as on 1st March 2024. Players having the titles - CM, FM, IM and GM or their equivalent women's titles are not eligible for Group B.
Schedule, Time control and Venue details
The tournament is organized by Dama Negra Chess Club/IO Patricia Claros Aguilar. There are three double rounds out of the nine rounds which will take place from 27th March to 1st April 2024. Thursday March 28th, Friday 29th March and Sunday 31st March are double round days. Last round on Monday 1st April starts at 10 a.m. local time. The tournament will take place at Gines Alenda Pavilion in San Vicente Raspeig in Alicante, Spain. The time control of the tournament is 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment. Prizes
The total prize fund is €20050. The top three prizes in Group A are €4000, €2000 and €1500 along with a trophy each. Total eleven main/general prizes are there. There are also four rating category, Best Women, Best Veteran (Above 50 and 65), Best Alicante province, Best Valencian Community and Best Black Queen prizes. Five different age groups - Under-8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 have a trophy + chess suitcase for the best player in the category. Five free classes are also there for age group prize winners at Chess Excelsior. The overall champion of the tournament also gets an invitation to XXI Gran Hotel Bali Chess Festival 2024 in Benidorm.
